Was it your destiny?
I've been doing some thinking about why we're gay. Some of us believe we're
born this way while others believe that something significant happened in childhood.
I don't think we're born with a preference. I think those preferences are somehow
developed in us while growing up. Some say that a woman is a lesbian because
she was abused in some way by a man, early in life. Some say that the same sex
parent didn't pay enough attention, affection, etc. I do find it very curious
that many lesbians have reported that a sibling, parent, step parent, etc. sexually
abused them as a kid.
It's only natural for people to wonder why we are the way we are. In my case,
my mom never gave affection and was always physically and emotionally abusive
with me. So as a teenager, I started looking for a mom figure who I ended up
falling in love with. That became a disaster and separation became necessary.
The good news is that after a few years we were able to regain our friendship
without me having issues with her. She's straight and at the time, she was married
with kids. So you can see how ugly it must have gotten especially when she told
her husband (who is now deceased). It has been 21 years and we're the best of
friends. A word to the wise...never, ever, ever fall in love with a straight
person...married or single...it's a disaster.
What I would like to achieve from this post is your opinions. Tell me what
you think. What are your beliefs...were we born this way ? Did our childhood
make us this way? How do you think you ended up being gay/lesbian ?
