Who let the vultures out?
Hi everyone! It’s Scotti.
I want to talk about something very serious this week. Actually I don’t!!
So I am going to talk about something very menial and unimportant yet it still
annoyed me.
They moved my desk at work. I work in a newsroom so it is a sea of desk level
cubicles–no privacy. My desk was right next to the backdoor and my computer
monitor blocked the assignment desk from being able to see me sitting at my
desk. I loved it.
So I came to work one day last week and all my stuff had been moved to a desk
near the boss’s office. Great! They were so nice–they gathered up
all my stuff and piled it on my new desk. Whose job is it to do that anyway?
Are there little elves that come out at night and move your stuff?
I arranged my stuff to make it look like home. Then I realized they didn’t
move my TV. (I work in TV news so we have TV’s on our desks) I grab my
TV and set it up, but I don’t have a long enough cable to reach. I go
to engineering and ask for a cable. I am told that I wasn’t supposed to
keep my TV. (Now I know who moved my stuff!) I found a cable and kept it anyway!
I soon discovered that everyone who was on my pod was moved too. One of them
came over to me and asked if I liked where my desk was. She hated her new location
and wanted to trade. She said the guy she sat next to was too loud. Like I want
to sit next to him either! I reminded her that another person in the pod next
to hers was given his walking papers so his desk would be empty soon. I saw
the lightbulb above her head light up.
Office politics. VERY ANNOYING!
