Izzy’s back tonight, and I was glad to hear that her psycho ex didn’t show up this past weekend. Worried for nothing is so much better than being worried for a good reason!

Star Spangled Weekend
Wow what a great weekend! It was filled with fireworks, food, music and shopping. It was the best weekend I've had in quite some time.

Friday night after dinner, I walked the kids downtown to Festival Square where there was a 4th of July celebration. We walked around with glow necklaces enjoying the music, the people, and of course the fireworks. Saturday, we drove to the StarSpangled Spectacular which was a celebration like no other. It reminded me of what Woodstock must have been like. Thousands of people everywhere. I insisted on taking the kids on a paddle boat even though they were a little nervous about it. I purposely made sure we went under the water fountain several times....which later....I wish I hadn't. We were soaked and when the temperature went down, I really regretted it. For one solid day I forgot my troubles and was able to relax and enjoy life with my kids.

People were so respectful and everyone was so polite. I noticed that while the fireworks were going off people were just in awe. Have you ever studied the people around you at one of these events? There's a certain kind of serenity that occurs. It's like everyone become's a kid again. We all hold our heads up and watch the lights in the sky barely speaking a word. Our concentration is focused on the beautiful light show and for a little while our reality is pushed aside. We all became children again and enjoy the majestic view. When it was time to leave, everyone left in an orderly manner. It took awhile to get out of there but you could hear people laughing in their cars–no one seemed to mind that it took forever to get out of the park. It was a great experience and I'm thankful for it. I think I enjoyed it more than my kids. Every now and then, it's important to let your inner child out and enjoy life. Monday night, I opted to stay home which turned out to be a very good idea because my son ended up sick. Even so, we celebrated with our neighbors. From one end of the street to the other....fireworks were everywhere!

Today it was back to the wonderful world of Banking. I expect the next few weeks to be crazy at work. They're giving me more responsibility these days and with more responsibility...come's more work! I hope everyone had a great weekend and just to let you all know....The ex didn't call once! Thank God !
