A father, a son, a friend, and a freakin' big ocean.

Under the section "Current Weather", (sidebar) we have put a basic selection of weather links covering the Atlantic Ocean.  These are a small portion of all the information that we will have available to us during the journey.  The link WX Info goes into more detail about meteorology aboard O'Comillas and it also describes the Beaufort scale which we may make reference to in the blog.

Planning and readiness are the key to a long voyage.  After all, if something happens or you forget something in a day trip, you could go back to port.  But when you are one week or more away from land on any direction, forgetting something is kind of a big deal.  At least, I have not seen any floating marine stores in the ocean.

Planning and readiness are also the best proof of the power of Murphy's Law.  Wow, that sentence does sound a bit backwards.  If one didn't believe that something was going to go wrong then why take all the tools we take, why the redundancy in so much of the equipment?  The goal behind the "preparing" phase, that we are currently in, is to anticipate as many potential problems as possible.

Then, you trust your capabilities, your sailboat, your crew and sail away. This of course, is when the real fun begins!
