This map shows the average height in meters (1 meter = 3.28 feet ) of the top one third of the waves. Remember that in the open seas, waves tend to be very long, thus 7m/23ft waves are not necessarily waves that are soaking us but where the sailboat is sailing up a very long tall wave and then surfing down the wave.
