 Fixing my Roof Today

Ok, now I am livid.  I was so angry last night, I really couldn’t have controlled myself.  My dog (actually puppy, he’s about 7 months old) brought in a cigarette butt out of my yard last night.  I asked my fiancé how he got that and he said people who go for walks throw their cigarette butts in the yard.

Through the roof!  MY YARD IS NOT YOUR ASHTRAY!

I guess I should explain first that I find smoking very disgusting.  It has numerous ill effects to your body and I have little tolerance for it.  I agree with the laws that prohibit smoking in public buildings.  Second hand smoke is just as harmful as sucking the toxic stuff into your lungs on your own free will.

I have also always been highly annoyed by the inconsiderate, rude people who will throw their butts onto the road after puffing the sludge into their lungs.  Hello!  If you don’t like the smell and the mess, then QUIT.

THE WORLD IS NOT YOUR ASHTRAY!

Seriously is that anything more than showing no care and even less respect for the many other people in this world?  Do I throw out my McDonald’s wrappers when I’m done eating?  Or my Coke cans when I’ve finished it?  Most cities have stiff and severe fines for littering and yet, those cancer-inducing sticks go flying.

I’m sure I shouldn’t be so surprised.  Smoker’s must be instinctively selfish.  Smoking is one of the few nasty habits that encroach on the people around them.  Second hand smoke is terribly dangerous and is forced on people against their will.

One of the things I adore about Disney is they don’t allow smoking even in the parks.  All of their restaurants are Smoke-Free and they tend to have limited smoking rooms as opposed to the other way around.

Now, I firmly believe people can do what they want so long as they don’t force that on me or others.  People can smoke all they want in their own home, in their own car, even out on their walks.  Just DO NOT force your garbage into my space.  Is that unreasonable?

I find smoker actions very contradictory.  They want to smoke, but not in their house.  Why is there a confusion over why non-smokers want restaurants and other public buildings smoke free?

I just don’t know what to do about this.  I wanted to put a sign up in the yard, but my fiancé said that would just bring even more cigarette butts.  I guess smoker’s are not only rude and selfish, but vindictive as well.

I don’t have a problem if other people want to smoke.  Like I said, live the way you want to live.  I just get extremely angry when that messy habit is forced into my world without my permission.  Do what you want, just keep the garbage on your own property.
