X-Men 2

Someone asked about my thoughts on X-Men.  I thought I’d offer them up here.

I’ll be honest, my main reason for watching X-Men is to drool over Hugh Jackman.  I watched the first one out of curiosity.  So many friends raved about it and I wanted to check it out.

Don’t get me wrong.  It’s an entertaining movie.  It has all the elements for a high suspense, action-packed movie.  It held my attention and didn’t have me looking at my watch to see how much longer.

I thought the effects were very well done and the abilities of the mutants were used very well.  Some stretched the believability, but considering the context of the movie, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment.

I didn’t like the ending.  I hate spoilers, so I won’t go into specifics, but from a writing standpoint, I felt it was the easy way out.

I liked how they had the bad guys join with the good guys, but still maintain their “badness”.  There were predictable parts including the defection of a particular X-man, but again, that didn’t distract nor was it forced.

Overall, Hugh Jackman made the movie for me.
