Desert Heat
The gag is that, yes it’s hot, but it’s a dry heat. We’re looking forward to a series of days pretty much like today. Just glanced out my bedroom window and saw that it was 102 in the shade. It was hot riding today, even with a ventilated jacket over a well-soaked long sleeved tee-shirt.
I’m looking forward to taking off the last four days this week, riding east across southern Arizona and then cutting northeast across a corner of New Mexico to higher elevations. Probably hit Socorro the first night (a short day) and then ride in the mountains of Arizona and New Mexico, where the high temperatures are in the mid to high 80s and the evening lows in the fifties.
Haven’t blogged much the last couple of days. I’ve had to keep my nose to the editorial grindstone. It’s been a relief in a way. I was getting sick of reading, or thinking, about politics. Frankly I’m looking forward to closing the laptop, shutting off the big box in the home office and visiting bars in out of the way desert towns.
I think I will do one thing, though: I’ll post a place-holder line or two when I leave. Then if I happen to be where there is a public computer I can post a comment about the trip as a comment to my own blog.
As they say: Live to ride, Ride to live!
