The TOG

The Three Old Guys met for coffee and politics this morning and the "numbers cruncher," a man who is an ardent liberal, and who desperately wants to see the Bush Regime retired, announced that he believes Bush will be re-elected.

His reason: Even when something like L’affaire Clarke temporarily bumps Kerry up or Bush down Bush bounces back, shouldering ahead on a seemingly teflon popularity.

Ask people if they think their lives will be any different depending on who wins. He believes most independents don’t think a Bush election will make any perceptible difference in their day-to-day existence. Except that they might feel, in some abstract way, safer.

Political activists and information junkies will point to abstract concerns such as the attack on constitutional guarantees. Habeus Corpus down the terlet? Hey, not for us…just for the bad guys.

Will it make any difference when I stagger off to the bathroom in the morning to brush my teeth? Not a whit.

Hail to The Chief, again. Pretty depressing view.
