New Food Pyramid

An article in the January 2003 issue of Scientific American disputes whether the 1992 Food Guide Pyramid that has been widely recommended is in fact healthy. According to the authors, "By promoting the consumption of all complex carbohydrates and eschewing all fats and oils, the pyramid provides misleading guidance. In short, not all fats are bad for you, and by no means are all complex carbohydrates good for you." The authors propose a new Food Pyramid based on the latest studies. Notice that white rice, white bread, potatoes and pasta are not recommended!
