Voters choose anyone but Bush  A poll just released by Quinnipiac University indicates that people don't care which Democrat they're going to get in 2004, just as long as its not Bush. That has to hurt.

Of course a US energy company is "preferred." In today's category of "You don't say!", we have a BBC report that US energy giant Unocal is about to ink a $2 billion oil pipeline deal with Afghanistan. This isn't the first time Unocal attempted to realize the dream of a central Asia pipeline, only last time the guys on the other side of the table were the Taliban. There are all sorts of dubious connections between the US, Karzai, Unocal, VP Cheney, and Haliburton, but who cares when you've got cheap gas for the Navigator?

Let's just get this over with. British newspaper Daily Express reports that we'll get our war on, on March 17. Well its about time.

World's largest Chee-to fever grips US! I kid you not....

How I became a hawk on Iraq One of the constant complaints of the anti-war side has been that the Bush administration has yet to provide proof that Saddam is stockpiling weapons of mass destruction or that he is a threat of any kind to his neighbors. That debate is now over. The shocking pictures shown at this link provide proof beyond doubt that Saddam Hussein is indeed a serious threat to world peace. I'm sorry that I opposed the war, and will now do everything I can to pre-empt this threat, appeasers be damned.

Add the Cato Institute to the list of Enemies of the State The conservative think tank has given some convincing reasons as to why it is unlikely that Saddam Hussein will be favoring Al Qaeda with some WMD any time soon.

Give "Give Peace a Chance" Shirts a Chance Now, there are anti-war protesters parading up and down the Crossgates Mall in Albany, criticizing the mall's decision to have a man arrested for wearing a t-shirt that said "Give Peace a Chance" (a t-shirt he bought in the mall). Boy, I bet the single mall employee who complained feels like a dick now.

Oprah's Book Club: How scared should America be? A "counter-terror expert" in Minnesota has listed groups in that state that could be a potential threat. All your favorites are here: the Nazis, Posse Comitatus, etc., but also such groups as the Ruckus Society, Students Against War, and a bookstore that donates some of its profits to Anti-Racist Action. The Earth Liberation Front and Animal Liberation Front are "more dangerous to Minnesota than Al-Qaeda." But don't fret, civil libertarian types: These aren't TERRORIST groups, they're "domestic identified groups that may affect our communities," says the counter-terrorist. Ah, that clears everything up.

While wondering how the fuck it could possibly be snowing again, I have somehow found the time to act as the middleman between you and the Associated Press (http://www.ap.org). Enjoy.

The Big News: Russians are fleeing Iraq in anticipation of war even as the country destorys more of the dread Al Samoud 2 missiles. Britain is floating the idea of giving Saddam a deadline to prove he has no more weapons before going to war. This is considered a "compromise," but it doesn't seem much like one to me. A vote on the UN resolution authorizing war is nigh; some say it will be on or before March 13. The US is still short of the nine needed votes.

The Roundup: "U.S. heavy bombers arrive in Guam to deter hostility" on the Korean Peninsula. Oh, so the heavy bombers are there to DETER hostility! I get it!. . . Osama bin Laden is alive and well and living in Pakistan! Next thing you know, they'll be saving his brain. . . Armenia's elections, which resulted in the re-election of the incumbent president, have been called "seriously flawed" by charitable international observers. Still, they have to be less flawed than Florida's elections in 2000. . . Israeli troops raided Gaza City, killing 11. . . The royal feud in Holland grew ugly, with Princess Margarita threatening to sue Queen Beatrix over damage to the princess's husband's business. This is as good an argument for monarchy as any: they distract us from our problems with stupid bullshit. . . The Pope's new book of poetry is out and it's already a chart-busting bestseller in Poland. Hey, do you think Bush might be able to get some clues about the Pope's position on Iraq by reading the book?
