You Couldn't Even Convince The 500 Residents of Delaware?

Now Joe Home And Shut Joe Mouth To the strains of Frank Sinatra's "My Way" (if you can believe that shit) Joe Lieberman put himself out of his misery last night and bowed out of the Democratic race after pinning his hopes on Delaware (if you can believe that shit) and coming in a distant second in the nation's smallest state. Now he has the free time to rally troops to the good fight against video games and candy (two real causes he supported) and play the spoiler to the Democratic hopefuls who actually have a chance.

Richard Perle: An Asshole For The Pantheon A terrorism "expert" who speaks for groups listed by the State department as terrorist groups. A man who says that says "I have always thought our intelligence in the Gulf has been woefully inadequate," but never wavered from the WMD-BS line for invading Iraq. Jim Lobe is right; the Yiddish invented the word "chutzpah" for Richard Perle.

Halliburton: In More Hot Water Than A Tea Bag Fresh from a scandal about overcharging for oil, Halliburton is now facing allegations that it overcharged the military for meals to troops in Kuwait. I'm sure Dick Cheney will get to the bottom of this...

Bush Continues Circus Act While Losing His Conservative Safety Net One of the quiet shocks of last night wasn't on the Democratic side of things. In the formality-driven Republican primaries, Republican challengers to Bush actually showed up on the radar, a sign that many take as a growing conservative disenchantment with Bush and his very non-conservative stands on spending government money like a drunken P. Diddy and legalizing illegal immigrants. Witness Bill Wyatt, a Los Angeles based t-shirt retailer who got more than 1 out of every 10 votes cast in Oklahoma.

When The French Say They Are Combating Muslim Extremism to Protect The Jewish Population Against Attacks, Ask Yourself, "What Kind Of Precedent France Has For Taking Care Of Its Jewish Citizens?" More details in the car wreck of good judgment that is the French law to ban headscarves and other threats to the Republic. Many critics and supporters of the bill are expressing doubt as to whether or not the bill would reduce Muslim "extremism" (i.e. code for the fear the French have for Muslims who still practice their faith and still want to keep some of their identity). But wait, I thought the law was to promote fairness and religious tolerance...? The head of the large Union of French Islamic Organizations sees the law as something that will allow "private (Muslim) schools (to sprout) like mushrooms." And private Islamic schools always tend to mainstream their students, just look at the other countries that offered a primarily Koran-based education: Afghanistan, Iran, etc. Hidden in the article is a nice gem about the commission that proposed this law ignoring over twenty proposals to foster integration.

More Than A Piece of Cloth While the French debate their "intolerance in the name of tolerance" debate over schoolchildren wearing religious symbols, this nice article details why the turban is so important for the Sikhs.
