The beauty of living in Hollywood. I was part of the only audience in the US to see a screening of all nine Animatrix episodes. Also part of the audience - Elijah Wood.
Then I walked down the street to the Mann Chinese Theater and saw Matrix: Reloaded. At some point I will probably describe this experience in detail, but suffice to say - it was truly amazing. It is one of those movies that you see multiple times because - unlike most summer movies - you cannot check your brain at the door.
True, you can just watch the movie for the action sequences - which are much better than the first - but there are so many questions that arise that you need to listen to the words to get a sense of what is going on.
Or you can just wait until November to get the answers.

Headline from the AP...
Bush vows bombers will learn 'meaning of American justice'
I don't know about you, but that sounds like something Osama bin Laden would say. This whole "Eye for an Eye" thing is not going to end well.

Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle comes out on June 27th. On their site, they have a series of animated adventures that come up weekly until the movie comes out.
Animated movies... on a website... why does that sound so familiar?
What a ripoff!

Two days before the Matrix: Reloaded opens WIDE (9,000 prints in 3700+ theaters).
However, there is one thing that is a little bit worrisome. A lot of people have seen it but Warner Brothers have prevented them for making ANY sort of comment. The only time that usually happens is when the studio is worried that there will be too many negative reviews. But that is not going to happen in this case.
I mean, there is no way Matrix: Reloaded won't be good.
Right?

Some thoughts on the NBA playoffs...
Until someone beats the Los Angeles Lakers 4 times in one series, I think they will win again. You don't win three times in a row without knowing what you are doing and if necessary, what needs to be done.
That said, if anyone is going to beat this year I think it would be San Antonio Spurs. A solid (and spectacular) Tim Duncan with new blood (Tony Parker, Manu Ginobli, Stephen Jackson) that don't know they should be afraid of the Lakers.
The Dallas Mavericks have finally realized what it takes the play playoff basketball, thanks to Nick Van Exel.
And for those of you that don't know - playoff basketball is a period of time when everyone takes their game to a new level. From the superstar all the way down to the 12th man.
Case in point - Tayshaun Prince. A rookie who didn't do a damn thing throughout the season (didn't get a chance to do a damn thing) and then takes over in the Detroit-Orlando series and takes over in overtime of Game 2 in the Detroit-Philadelphia series.
Of course, in games 3 and 4 of the series, AI turns into a 20-10 machine. As in, 20pts-10 assists per game.
My prediction for the NBA finals - Los Angeles Lakers 4, Philiadelphia Sixers 2. (although the New Jersey Nets are looking pretty tough)

Evidently fans of the Matrix are upset that Time magazine revealed plot details. I have one word for those fans:
RESTRAINT.
When an article says don't read further if you don't want to have plot details read, then you don't read it. If you read it and find out something you rather not have known, then it is your own damn fault! Or more correctly - my OWN damn fault!

You know, I really did have plans for a Matrix free week but that is the thing with obsessions and addictions. You want to let it go, but it won't let go of you.
Thankfully, we're only talking about a movie and not crack.
Just browsing over at Tony Pierce's blog and there is this picture of Monica Bellucci at the premiere. Then I had that dream. Then there are all the damn TV spots during the NBA playoffs.
Heineken commercials, billboards, songs, magazine covers, ... It just won't stop!

I had a strange dream last night. I don't remember it all and I couldn't possibly describe it to you but it was a mixture of the Matrix, X2, and my marathon training.
All I know is that I had this special telepathic bond with Carrie-Anne Moss.
Boy, I am straight tripping.
There goes that Matrix free week (T minus 6 days and counting!)

This just in - I have officially become a Detroit Tigers fan.
This follows my code about following a team. I follow teams that suck so that when they become good, it makes it more enjoyable. As opposed to most Lakers/Yankees/Raiders fans, I can always say I drive the bandwagon.
Case in point, I had been a Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans since the Steve Young days. I would have been sooner had I been more into the Black QB thing when I was kid. Something about that pirate and the old orange uniforms that I got a kick out of.
And boy did the Bucs suck for years. Then they got a black coach (Tony Dungy) and started winning. Unfortunately, they changed their orange unis and became the pewter pirates. Then they dumped (and I mean dumped) Dungy for a pretty white boy (Gruden) and I was forced to stop liking them. Of course, they go on to win the Superbowl, but still...
And don't forget - I'm still a Clippers fan.

Again... I have lied.
There is this cool article on Salon looking at the world we lived in before the Matrix came out and what has happened since. A world before 9/11, W and the elections, even before Columbine.
Something to think about.
Oh yeah - have they found the WMD yet? I haven't been paying attention.

Did I just say this week was going to be Matrix-free?
I guess I lied - the fourth animatrix story is free to download here. This is part 2 of the Second Renaissance. This will lead us up to how we got to the world of the Matrix.
Even though I'm seeing it next week, I watching it today.
Okay from now on this week is going to be Matrix-free.

This just in... I am getting Matrix fatigue. No more Matrix related news. I am declaring this week to be a Matrix-free week (fat chance!)

There are some benefits to living in LA. Two things come to mind:
1) Last week, I say X-Men 2 in Westwood at a midnight showing. The row in behind of me was taped off for some group of people. The people I was sitting with was joking that it is probably for some C-list celebrities like Corey Feldman. Turns out not only was Daniel Cudmore (who played Colossus) sitting behind but also Bryan Singer.
Yes, as in Bryan Singer the director of X2.
Cool.
2) I got tickets to see the Matrix: Reloaded at the Mann Chinese Theaters in Hollywood. Also in Hollywood one block east of the Chinese theater is the Egyptian Theater which is having an Anime festival. On May 14th, they will be showing the complete Animatrix.
Do you know what that means?
On May 14th, I will see ALL NINE ANIMATRIX episodes and then walk down one block and see the Matrix: Reloaded.
I am a lucky man.
