Rock-&-Roll?
(Sorry, but here they come again…)
Reuben is 2 years & 7 months old. Rosie is 10 months old.
Reuben is weathering that proto-adolescence stage they call the Terrible Twos reasonably well. He does good tantrum, occasionally excellent. But most of the time boredom sets in or some distraction diverts his attention & full-on, Richter Scale screaming peters out into half-hearted crooning within a few minutes. And although he can clear a tabletop of crockery or flood a bathroom in seconds, he is a gentle, affectionate, self-motivating, rather eccentric little boy with a taste for odd hats & chiffon scarves.
Rosie moved from the mewling & puking stage with bewildering speed. One moment she was a conventional baby, content to lie on her back like an upturned crab, & the next she was demanding to be sat upright in order to participate fully & actively in whatever might be going on. She will wave & clap on demand & has repeated certain clearly articulated sounds frequently enough for it to be apparent that she has begun to speak. The two Health Visitors who administer the regular growth & weight tests were surprised at her advanced development. Emma & I are currently debating which Oxford & Cambridge colleges might best accommodate her prodigious talents.
