THE NIGHTMARE WORLD OF WINDOWS XP - ENDGAME

Blame Phil (April 15th) for this one. I’ve tried to fight it off for a week now but it’s no good: like John Lee Hooker’s boogie – it’s in that boy & it’s gotta come out…

The basic principle is straightforward.  Here’s how it works.  All of us know ourselves to be terminally hip when it comes to musical tastes.  We know that Richard Thompson is the greatest guitar-slinger in the universe; we are Tom Waits completists; we are in a position to impress dinner guests with any kind of 3-course hi-fi soundtrack from Tuvlan throat singing to death metal. But we each of us guard a small cache of dreadful musical secrets – ultra-low cred tracks which, as Phil puts it (here from the male perspective), ‘when they come on unexpectedly in an elevator, make you want to grab the unsuspecting fellow passenger and dance her silly until the door opens’.
