Dick Jones' Patteran Pages
A patteran is a coded configuration of leaves, sticks and stones left at the roadside by Gypsies to communicate with each other. This is my digital version, left for any passers-by...

An exhausting day.  We took the more or less completed Violent Delights into Hitchin this afternoon. The Rhythms of the World festival was into its second day & we planned to insert a few performances into the proceedings.  It’s too late at night & I’m too knackered now to record the day’s events. Tomorrow we head for Cambridge & the eddy & flow of American tourists. I’ll staple the two reports together in the wake of that.

Inexpert theories abound concerning the psychological state of those who commit acts of terrorism. The general - & thus largely trite – view is that they’re all lunatics. Studies appear to indicate very much to the contrary &, whilst there exist several factors in common across the spectrum of political & religious groupings, madness or stupidity don’t feature.

I found a couple of interesting sites addressing the phenomenon of terrorist psychology, both of which helped to clarify for me what might have motivated the London bombers in the first place & what might have applied the social cohesion necessary for the sustenance of the group within the ‘host’ culture.

I’ve tried linking in Word but I’m getting no cooperation so here are the links in full:
