The Fight Ahead
The Introduction for the book of history known as 2004 has been written by the events of yester-year. What lies ahead of us is most definitely unknown, even for those amongst the administration (and those in business with them) attempting to write it how they want it perceived and how they want it to end-- control who the primary characters are; the themes that will entertain and interest the masses; the conflicts that will enable them to be victorious over their specified enemies. America will eat it up just like it devours reality TV programs. Call this Reality White House.
The fight that lies ahead of us, in trying to win back the White House may be the toughest one yet. I highly doubt the Democrats and their backers can amass a campaign chest the size of Bush's. It will also be an uphill battle to win fair airplay in the media, both on a local and national level. Nonetheless, we don't throw in the towel. Seemingly undefeatable foes have fallen to highly defeatable opponents.
With this in mind, TomPaine.com printed two exceptional pieces in regards to the Democrats chances this year, especially Howard Dean's chances against Bush. They are brutally honest and motivationally inspiring.
Ghosts of Landslides Past by Arianna Huffington and Intoxicated With Power by Ray McGovern.
I did not have time to quote all of the noteworthy comments within them. In fact, they nearly are perfect. So read them in their entirety. Love them. Cherish them. Copy them and hand them out.
