I honestly tried to return to work following another anxiety filled trip to the dentist. I'm really such a baby when it comes to the dentist. I mean the staff is friendly and all (but can't they see the sheer terror in my eyes).
After my mandatory x-ray, the fluffy little technician turned to me and nonchalantly quipped, "That's the worst part of the visit." I didn't appreciate the humor. In fact I thought she was mental.
Back at work I quickly realized I wasn't going to accomplish anything constructive in the remaining hour but the point was driven home when my supervisor came over to me at my desk and leaned in trying to be discreet and said, "Rich, ahmm, well, you're kind of drooling on yourself."
Oh Thit! I have previously blogged about a cardinal rule of the workplace. Don't cry at work. Go home first I think I said at the time. I'd like to amend the list now. No drooling at work. Pau Hana. Aloha kakou everybody. See you on Monday.
My dentist says this is only the "opening act". Words can't describe how thrilled I am by that.
Go ahead and read it yourself but my headline for this one will be:
Diminutive 8 year old Punches Dad in the Gut. Or at least that's the way I'm reading the spin on this one.
The California schoolgirl whose father sparked a major court battle against the Pledge of Allegiance has been saying it even though she could opt out of the daily ritual, a school official said Thursday.
My point is that this story has all the makings of smug neo-conservatives waving flags and saying, "See dad, your 'precious' has every right to be patriotic."
"She says the pledge, oh yes," David Gordon, superintendent for the Elk Grove school district, said about the daughter. "Her mother is on record as supporting the pledge."
I'm not going to insult your intelligence by splainin what this lawsuit was all about. I give dear readers in Salonville credit for at least a modicum of average intelligence. And a modicum of intelligence is really all that's needed here.
Who among us doesn't know that her father couldn't care less whether she recites the pledge or not. This kind of story bothers me.
