First item, in today's Would You Believe It file comes in the form a simple query for our very own Norwegian guy, Jan Haugland. Ready Jan?
Name two people that you absolutely would not nominate for the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize.
Undeniable proof that George W. Bush has Lost His Mind
I suppose that by now we've all become a bit inured to the puerile and abstruse babblings that emanate from Bush's mouth when accidentally left to his own devices. A compendium of recent examples that come to mind include:
"It's very interesting when you think about it, the slaves who left here to go to America, because of their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom, helped change America." -George W. Bush, Dakar, Senegal, July 8, 2003
How about the sound bite from The whitehouse:
"Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease."
Or even the breviloquence of the now infamous, "Bring 'em on!"
Bush's latest in a series of war justifications or rather, prevarications was picked up by the Washington Post yesterday and is, in my opinion, nothing short of incredible.
Defending the broader decision to go to war with Iraq, the president said the decision was made after he gave Saddam Hussein "a chance to allow the inspectors in, and he wouldn't let them in."
Huh?! As everyone living in the world of reality recalls
Hussein had, in fact, admitted the inspectors and Bush had opposed extending their work because he did not believe them effective.
Now I can understand mixing up Hussein with Al Qaeda - they sound so similar. But this is an atrocity that suggests a mental health problem. When was the last time this guy had an examination anyway? Schizophrenics living in an internal world of "what I say instantaneously becomes reality" especially those experiencing some form of divine guidance are not atypical. Persons suffering from the onset of Alzheimer's disease frequently exhibit both short and long term memory lapses.
I'd love to write more but it's time for the O'Reilly report. Don't want to miss how Bill and Condi spin this one into technically accurate.
