Preface: I don't normally blog about "sports" instead leaving that subject to more capable minds and hands. On this day, however, I have a few thoughts.
When I meet someone for the first time I normally assign them a "5" on my one-to-ten scale of respect (that that I have for them). Points are invariable gained or lost over time. And my self-judgments are not subject to appeal. For example, Bush started as a "five". He has now dropped to a "one". Why a zero you might ask? Because I think, in all honesty, that Bush is just an idiot. In that capacity Bush isn't aware that he's an idiot - I think he's seriously trying to do the "right thing" at least in his mind. That's why I award him a "one".
So who deserves a "zero" by my recourse of acumen?
1) Mike Tyson. Am I now supposed to feel anguish over the fact that this ankle-biter (though somewhat taller man) has apparently squandered $300,000,000.00?
The fighter frittered away millions on mansions, Bentleys, jewelry, and even Bengal tigers while buying extravagant gifts for his entourage.
Tyson has a $100 million lawsuit pending against King that goes to trial in September. The suit claims King cheated Tyson out of millions after he got out of prison in 1995 and went back to fighting for the promoter.
Tyson, who served three years in prison for rape in the 1990s, faces up to a year if convicted of the latest charges.
His problems it seems are, in part, due only to fact that he just can't keep it in his pants.
To borrow from Tom "-- snip --"
2) Kobe Bryant. The 24-year-old Los Angeles Lakers star, who is married and the father of a daughter born in January, was charged with one count of sexual assault, a felony.
Another case that wouldn't be a case had he simply kept it in his pants. What is it with men? Are we collectively really this dumb? (I could have used several different adjectives here but I think "dumb" says it all).
I say only "boo hoo" to these two and mostly just "boo".
Men only need reply.
