Is it just me
who thinks that most of the time this Bush administration is generally just up to no good?
Right on cue we're being treated to a ghoulish replay of released 9/11 taped 911 calls. Right on cue? What cue? The so-called anniversary of the twin towers disaster is still a full two weeks away. Oh but didn't we hear just yesterday that Bush needs a whole pile more money for Iraq?
"I don't think there was the expectation that the United States was going to have to foot the bill as much as it looks like it is now," said Candice Nelson, director of the Campaign Management Institute at American University in Washington.
Bush may ask Congress to provide an additional $2 billion over the short term for Iraq and some congressional sources expect a push for an emergency spending bill for Iraq of $20 billion or more this year instead of waiting until next year.
Coincidence?
What purpose does the release of these 911 transcripts have other than providing fodder for the same fools that slow down to gawk at the carnage of a particularly bad automobile accident. I harbor absolutely no desire to hear "victims' last words". It's utterly detestable. Which is precisely why I think that Bush had a hand in it.
Another reason I think Bush is behind this is that releasing 9/11 memorobelia makes no sense. As a good patriotic American, am I not supposed to believe (at least this week) that we went to war with Iraq to liberate the Iraqi people?
Perhaps, instead, Bush is playing to the "some of the people I can fool all of the time" crowd - that ridiculously high percentage of Americans who are convinced Sadam Hussein had some direct connection to 9/11.
Now I'm just confused. Will someone in the Bush administration please tell me what to believe.
