| I
can faintly recall the beginning of my career - such as it was. There
have been multiple computer operating systems that have come and have
gone since that beginning. Are any of those original operating systems
still around in these "modern days"? Yes there are... and my weird
story will continue. When I went to college in
the city of Irvine in California there weren't many PC's(personal
computers) at that time. Personal computers had barely been even
invented. There also weren't a lot of the so-called professional
computer experts. Shit, I didn't even know what I was trying to become
a so-called "expert at". When I went to
school in 1977 there were two computers that were allowing students
access to "the facilities". One was a Dec-10 running a TOPS-10
operating system. The other was an original MS PDP-8 or 11. There were
a number of operating systems that were originally tried or used on a
regular basis. Do you remember them: CAPS-11,RT-11 or RSX-11 and even
later RSTS or RSTS/E? Well, you should and I'll tell you why you don't
now days. None of the people that used these operating systems are
either still alive or are using them - no one knows what they are. They
did but the time has progressed in our world. The DEC company still
lives although few can find them. Now the "kids" all flock to the
Microsoft Company and look for futures in the Windows OS's. Hah. Most
of the operating companies these days are still using Microsoft
products. For what? If you're dealing with email or using the polluted
system called Salon then you're stuck with Microsoft (or occasionally
the Mac). If I'm in business with say a car wash then I'll invest with
the Microsoft company. That's about the only business that they
guarantee - so to speak If you are dealing with money, say a bank, or
any other organization that deal with moving or recording money amounts
then lets all hope you're using a more well known softwarebecause if
you're using Microsoft software then everyone that knows anything about
software also knows that you are AN IDIOT. Do
you disagree? Let's remember what I wrote about the Navy when they were
utilizing the NT operating system. Have they changed? Guess what? Nope! This
story would probably end just this fast but it doesn't today. No, I'm
not the critic - any more than absolutely necessary. There is no Bush
here as long as you haven't read my prior link. My real story actually begins right here. A
decade or so since I picked up an IBM 570E Notebook which is actually a
piece of antique crap but was a gift from my wonderful sister when I
might have been in the hospital for one reason or another. It was
originally loaded with the MS 2000 OS which was infected by one of my
later vacations to somewhere. It caught a virus which eventually was
incurable. My computer would operate correctly for three or four
minutes and then nothing. Traditionally I have historically replaced my
OS with a new one. This old computer didn't have any floppy or CD in
the notebook. I could, in theory, boot this notebook with the floppy
but who does that anymore? Are you able to read a CD through your
USB-CD booted from a floppy? My CD was not working. I could not
re[place my operating system. What should the public do under these
circumstances? Buy a new computer? What? Am I crazy? She had a guy that offered to try and fix (her) problem with her computer. Hah hah. The problem with her problem he determined was simply to turn the CD reader upside down. Every thing worked "fine". My hat is tipped to this guy. There
you go. I must be an idiot too. The oracle from my house has determined
that that student from HPU might look forward to a wonderful future for
his life. In my opinion, he is thinking in the weirdest and the most
righteous ways. I think that perhaps he's in the top 1%. Let's all put
Gates and his equally idiots out of business. (His stolen "Word"
program will accept the word "eqaully" just fine) I personally offer
him (the student) the best luck for his future. And for Everyone else. |
