The World's Population is Still Increasing
Is the World getting Better?

I presume that people who were born in the early nineteen-hundreds are probably either astounded, astonished or perhaps  dismayed by the fact that our world has been unavoidably altered in some incredible methods or even demeanor. Some of this 1900's clique might be positively or negatively affected in their own lives by their own personal exposure to their/our own altered world and the resulting changes that affect the world are just a pertinent fact for all of us.

Any populations of any people come forth with any number of ideas ultimately resulting in changes in the way things work or possibly new things invented.

Due to our larger and ever larger population, the number of positive outcome definitions in any particular situation is also increasing. Is that a good thing?

In my opinion a person unavoidably knows that he or she is getting relatively "older" when nieces or nephews of yours are finding themselves in the process of getting married. My niece has now knowingly become (with or without an actual marriage) a "piece" who is already part of a "large puzzle".

The top arrow in this unidentifiable state map points to an odd city by the name of Carpinteria. The distance between the two ("pointed toward") cities is 61 miles.
On my current excursion to the state of California, I find myself in the same situation. I must be getting older. I find it impossible to consider myself wise. Maybe I'm not yet old enough or just plain too stupid. I haven't attended California for ten or fifteen years. That's about how long my niece needed before she was mature enough to desire to be married. During that  period I have noticed a few things that have changed regarding to the Californian environment. The brief automobile trip that covered 61 miles required three hours. What in the hell is happening in this world. There didn't use to be anything here and it was beautiful. What happened? Was I unhappy? Was I supposed to be?

The city of Carpinteria (sic) does not manufacture vacuum cleaners (no pun intended). In fact, it hasn't done anything in the past thirty years - until lately. This region has a major highway running through it. It has a lot of open space and it has a wonderful potential of making some people a lot of money by providing needy other people with so-called affordable housing.

San Francisco is only my example for this story and has a limited amount of space and its houses are thusly a bit more crowded.
Both of these houses perch next to an ocean and maybe you are one who likes that sort of place. Where would you like to live?
The rest of this expansive state is quickly turning those that were previously empty hills into nothing but houses. Soon enough, the entire state will be as crowded as San Francisco is.
The last time that I made a similar trip up the Californian coast I can remember exactly what there was to see - ocean, rocks and grassy hills. Now we feature a fine look at future residences of equally future people to be produced. I also get a fine view of the rear end of the car that is in my way.

I have two choices. I can feel optimistic or pessimistic. I'm stuck with one or the other right? In my case, I feel a little bit of both choices but I hope for the best overall. The air in a previously smoggy environment has improved in the last twenty years. The supposed improvement can actually be visually detected - no joke. On the other hand, the grassy hills that you used to ride on horses are now just entries in history books - forever.  That's too bad. This is my story. I have lived during both periods.

My best of luck wishes are issued to my happily married niece. The current situation in her life - as she observes it - is just "normal". She has great hopes for their couple's grand future. I'll sincerely do what I can to help. I can't finish this story any other way. We'll see how it goes as long as our own life spans will allow us.
