Yeah, I'm a little bored today. I have to provide my own public comments for my last visit with a squirrel. I hear a number of stories regarding human physiology. The BBC has reported 27 bones in each hand. Once again I'll remind you that I am an American. Apparently our hands are somewhat smaller than those from the U.K.. I'm betting on 26 instead.
I've also heard biblical stories about differences in Adam and Eve. Yes, there are some differences but each one has the same number of ribs. We all have the same skeleton depending primarily on age. Each sex has 12 ribs or pairs, whatever. We were born with 300 bones. We gradually joined or eliminated about 94 bones and ended up with 206 for either sex. Add up all of the bone counts in your feet and hands - and get about half of all that you have.
Are we able to determine a dead person's sex with only a skeleton? Surprisingly we can if the dead person's pelvis isn't missing. Hmmm...Do some women have things that we call hips? Some with more than others. Ya know, maybe our elbows are different in certain ways?
Both sexes share their largest bones called a femur. Our "funny bones" are humorously called, well, that exactly (close anyway). Our smallest bones are called stirrups. Where are those things anyway you non commenting folks?
Have a nice day.
