Powell's Syrious!
What exactly is going on with Syria? Rumors are flying and news reports are all saying different things about Powell's just completed trip to the Syrian capital Damascus.
A little bird told me that Syria was handed demands by Powell that it reveal the location of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction (WMD), which were supposedly allowed transit across Syria and buried in Lebanon's Bekka valley. The word on the street is that Syrian leader Bashar Assad was paid fourty-five million dollars to cover the expense of the trip. In addition Powell demanded Syria turn over any Iraqi senior government officials to the US (it's already handed over 3 of the most wanted) and close down terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
Knowing how quickly Syria buckles under pressure I'd be surprised if it takes them longer than a week to acede to every US demand. If Bashar Assad is crazy then he's crazy like a fox and the first goal of the fox is always survival.
