Thanks for the e-mails! Since I called into KUOW I've had many nice e-mails and comments. Thanks to you all! Foul Fries Rather than ban French (Freedom) fries the do-gooders should mandate that fries be fried in oil entirely separate than other fried goods. What am I talking about? I just stopped at Jack In The Box to get some fries as I was on my way home from Trader Joes. Fast food isn't a normal thing for me but I was feeling a bit adventurous. As I sat in the drive-through behind an exhaust-belching 1970's-era Nova I began to regret my choice. I rolled up to the window where a large hispanic women sat rolling her eyes at me while her equally rotund supervisor jabbered away in rapid-fire Spanish. Five minutes later I was finally delivered my elusive fries! Unfortunately  upon the first bite I realized I was tasting a melange of chili poppers and tacquitos and every other thing Good ol' Jack had fried up before my fries. Unlike Europe the US has no laws mandating how many times deep-fat frier oil must be changed and I was a victim of the results. Maybe I can sue Jack? The Oceans Are Becoming A Vast Graveyard Sad and disturbing news today with the publication of a report in Nature about the decimation of predator fishes in the world's oceans. It seems that industrialized fishing has reduced the number of predator fish in the world's oceans by 90% and the average size of fish has declined precipitously. 10:57:56 AM    Gimme your feedback! []
