Lacrosse This Year (and the homos)

I was scared to start playing lacrosse this year as it's been a couple of years since I last played AND I don't have health insurance (yeah I know, dumb, but I'm young and it's hella expensive). A friend of mine blew his leg out in a bad way last year so I have been leery to start playing again knowing that if I'm injured I alone will have to foot the bill.

Even with that it's been good to get back on the field again. I've been playing with the UW intramural team and it's great fun. The guys aren't hyper-competitive (one thing I loath about straight men) and most people have a good time.

Still, what is it with the gay male obsession with sports and especially the showers afterwards? Whenever I tell another gay guy "yeah, I play lacrosse" they get all atwitter and aflutter and start asking about showering afterwards. Please, if I do shower at the IMA at UW afterwards I'm far more concerned about avoiding catching some nasty foot fungus than checking out my fellow players asses. I guess it comes from locker rooms being forbidden to a lot of gay men, at least in their own minds. What we are not allowed becomes much more alluring than it usually is. When we shower we're all usually sore, tired and really dirty and trust me, the last thing on any of our minds is sex.
