Looking Back Instead of Moving Forward

                                                                   Coulda', Shoulda' Woulda'

In a sign of how terrified the Bush administration has become over its falling poll numbers the White House today began an offensive to convince the American people that the war in Iraq was justified

It's also a sign of just how confused the Bush administration's policy on Iraq has become. Here we are, 5 months AFTER the end of the successful offensive to remove Saddam Hussein from power and the administration has been reduced to trying to convince us of something AFTER it has already been accomplished? They've completely lost the initiative and momentum they gained from the overthrow of Hussein and now are reduced to sending hatchetwomen Condoleeza Rice out to rail against critics of the war. If the White House and Pentagon had formulated and implemented a plan for Iraq in the aftermath of the war then they wouldn't have these problems on their hands to begin with!

Democrats quake at the famously on-message and disciplined Bush team but if this is an example of their prowess then we've got nothing to fear in this upcoming election.

Safe Sex in Seattle

                                                                 No Love Without The Glove

Well, this is encouraging. The Seattle Times reports today that a community task force has come up with a "strongly worded" safe sex manifesto that will be posted on-line for gay men to sign.

The Seattle Times says the document, put together by more than 40 HIV prevention workers and 'gay activists' includes the following "We are accountable for our behavior — to ourselves, our sex partners, and our community. ... Transmitting HIV knowingly is an act of violence."   It also urges gay men, "as an act of self love," to care about their health by "joining together to make safer sex ... the community norm."  This is all great and definitely a step in the right direction.

I've been saying for awhile that the "No guilt, No blame" attitude of many Seattle-based HIV prevention organizations is bullshit and has done nothing but led to a massive increase in HIV and other STD infections amongst gay men in Seattle. It's good that our voices are being heard and the community is taking the necessary steps to control HIV and other STDs.

Bye, Bye Article II, Section I, Clause 5 of the US Constitution

                                                                       Shredded - Soon

My prediction is this:

Within two years Republicans in the US Congress, never know for their pro-immigrant views, will begin a campaign to change the US Constitution to allow a foreign-born president of the United States. Masking their rhetoric as "anti-racist" and "pro-immigrant" they'll sound a note of conciliation when their real aim is to allow Arnold Schwarzenegger to become President of the United States.

You heard it here first.
