Limbaugh Update II

                                                                                   Pill Popper

Thanks to George for the following quotes from Rushie himself:

"We're going to let you destroy your life. We're going to make it easy and then all of us who accept the responsibilities of life and don't destroy our lives on drugs, we'll pay for whatever messes you get into." -- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec. 9, 1993

"I'm appalled at people who simply want to look at all this abhorrent behavior and say people are going to do drugs anyway let's legalize it. It's a dumb idea. It's a rotten idea and those who are for it are purely 100 percent selfish." -- Rush Limbaugh show, Dec 9, 1993

"There's nothing good about drug use. We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too." -- Rush Limbaugh show, Oct. 5, 1995

Rush was right about one thing. He is most definitely NOT a role-model for any of us.

Valley of The Dolls - Limbaugh Style

Limbaugh says he's going into rehab for addiction

Well I am trying to find something nice to say about Rush Limbaugh's admission of his addiction to painkillers but I just... can't. It took a criminal investigation for him to admit his addiction and for someone who has railed against people blaming their problems on others he sure does a fine job of doing exactly that.

He's now entering rehab and will emerge fresh and cured in the standard 30 days. Then we'll see how he answers the questions of his involvement in a prescription pill-selling ring in West Palm Beach.

When poor minorities are arrested for drug possession and are addicts themselves they're not allowed to use that excuse to get out of prosecution and I hope Rush isn't allowed to either. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Shill Watch Day III

Vice President Dick Cheney is one of several administration figures defending the invasion of Iraq.

And today we've got the human tickin' time bomb himself, Dick Cheney!

The Bush administration's propaganda offensive in support of their disastrous post-war policy in Iraq has called Dick Cheney out of whatever "secret" location he's been hiding in. Tuesday we had Condoleeza and yesterday Bush, today it's Cheney.

The speech was the usual litany of the administration's reasons for going to war, blah, blah, blah. But Cheney said something I found interesting, "As long as George W. Bush is president of the United States, this country will not permit gathering threats to become certain tragedies." Really? I suppose Bush doing nothing to halt North Korea's acquisition of nuclear weapons is the embodiment of this principle.

And Cheney goes on to trot out the disproven and false accusation that Hussein was supporting Al Qaeda. This falsehood has already gotten the administration in hot water, you'd think they would stop repeating these lies. Any first-year student of Middle Eastern studies knows that Saddam's regime, as terrible as it was, was based on Baathism which is a secular-derived ideology. Maybe the Bush administration is subscribing to the Orwellian philosophy that if you repeat a lie enough people will begin to believe it.

I was and remain a supporter of the war to remove Saddam Hussein but have yet to hear the administration advocate, on human rights and moral grounds, for the removal of Hussein. I thought basing the war on such narrowly defined areas like WMD was bad policy when they did it earlier this year and I've been proven right. This latest campaign, trotting out all the same, shopworn and tired reasons for taking down Saddam is an embarrassing example of the same mistake. Yet like Sisyphus pushing that same rock over the hill for eternity the Bush administration cannot seem to break out of this pattern.

Pat Robertson Goes Insane

                                                                            I said LAUNCH!

I wrote previously about Pat Robertson's disgusting comments on race and the actor Morgan Freeman. Now it seems Pat has gone totally over the edge.

Pat previously urged viewers of his 700 Club to pray for the deaths of various moderate-liberal Supreme Courty justices in an effort to cause a vacancy on the court, God doesn't appear to be listening and maybe that's what Pat has cranked up the rhetoric lately with his comments about Morgan Freeman.

Now Pat appears to either have either gone completely crazy or become an advocate of nuclear terrorism with his latest comment about blowing up the State Department with a nuclear device. The sad thing is this isn't the first time Pat has suggested blowing up the State Department with a nuclear bomb, he said the same thing back in June!

Pat is definitely a national source of entertainment but I am afraid he's lost it completely. Someone should seek his involuntary committment to a mental hospital where he can get the help he so desperately needs.
