Disgusting News Coverage Two more bombings in Turkey but watching CNN all you'd think had happened in the world today was the arrest of Michael Jackson. Who gives a rat's ass? Overseas people are dying and an American ally is under attack, but listen to CNN and you'd think Michael Jackson was the American President with all of this lame-ass repetitious and breathless coverage of the eternally creepy "King of Pop." CNN breathlessly follows his plane as it goes into a hangar, then they bring on attorneys who joust with imaginary opponents over charges no one has yet seen. Then they bring on Michael's brother who rants about this being a modern-day lynching (is Michael black?). A sad state of affairs in American news today when they can devote three hours of solid coverage to Michael Jackson while the world's only secular, Islamic state is attacked by extremists bent on destroying its government and culture. 1:36:50 PM    Gimme your feedback! []

More Istanbul Bombings                                                                                                                                                 In the name of Allah Jesus, it appears I got out just in time! The British consulate in Istanbul is in such a beautiful area, a lovely urban neighborhood with small winding streets full of restaurants and bars and shaded from the sun by arching stained glass covers criss-crossed with grape vines. I ate dinner there my last night in Istanbul with Haluk and Atakan, two wonderful friends who showed me a great part of Istanbul I hadn't experienced before. Now it's all demolished. What do these terrorists think they're going to accomplish with this? I hope the Turkish authorities have doubled the security presence at the Orthodox Patriarchate in the Fener because I have a sneaking feeling that will be the next target. I've Slept With Children...                                Yes, it's true. I have two little nieces and two nephews and I have taken naps with them when babysitting.
