William Safire

- Katsa - A Mossad case officer
- Blow-Back - Fake stories fed to a foreign news service
The Mossad's motto is "Divided, we rule" and if ever there were a katsa who took his mission to heart it's New York Times columnist William Safire.
Every one of Safire's columns fulfills his goal of completely tying the security of the United States to that of Israel. Having achieved the occupation of Iraq, one of Israel's greatest enemies in the Middle East, he has now turned his attention to Iran and Syria. One wonders what Israel's next targets will be after having seduced the United States into re-ordering the map of the Middle East so it's more to Israel's liking.
Today Safire brings out the heavy artillery as well as quaint Hebrew phrases to herald the start of a continuing campaign against his next-favorite targets, the Palestinians. Claiming that Israel is "embattled" and being pressured to accept "indefensible" borders by the usual anti-Israeli lobby abroad (Carter, Putin, Chirac) and in Israel (the anti-Sharon/pro-Palestinian press), Safire says that Israel will not halt it's "campaign of taking the war to the terrorists."
Shooting children in the West Bank and Gaza is not taking the war to the terrorists. Safire is as usual his hawkish self, and quickly turns his head away from the growing realization in Israel that the iron-fisted campaign against the Palestinians has done nothing to make Israel safer and everything to embitter the Palestinians against the Israeli occupation. The occupation is killing Israeli society and destroying the meaning of Israel as a "Light upon nations" and Safire is doing his part to make that destruction all the more inevitable.
