A Confederacy of Dunces - The Movie

This book is one of my favorite of all time. I first heard of it in 2000 while in Turkey when I picked up a copy, or rather my mom picked one up and gave it to me, telling me "it's really funny, read it." I let it sit sround for a couple of months after I got back and then started reading and could barely bring myself to stop. It's an absolutely amazing book, with vividly drawn characters and dialogue.

I found the most amazing thing about the book to be how the characters seem to be as fresh and relevant today as they were when John Kennedy O'Toole wrote the book in the mid-60's. It didn't feel dated or aged at all.

So I was intrigued when I heard that a film version of this book was being released next year, starring Will Ferrell as Igantius J. Reilly. I'm not the biggest fan of Will Ferrill, who's comic timing I've found to be a little off at times, but I'm willing to give him a chance. It'll be interesting to see how they bring this amazing book to screen and how Ferrell portrays O'Reilly, who isn't overtly funny or comic but who's strange statements and actions are what provide the comic relief.

South Beach Diet Day 21

Well, I feel fine. No complaints from me about this diet. It's interesting to read some of the comments people have been posting about their experiences on the same diet. People's physiologies are different and mine has accomodated my food choices very well. I've not experienced shakes, nor constipation nor fatigue. All-in-all it's been pretty regular and normal with an overall increased sense of vitality.

Yesterday for breakfast I had a two-egg scramble with ham. Lunch was raw cauliflower, hummous and some baked ham and cheese rolls. For dinner I sauted cut-up chicken breast with yellow summer squash, garlic, zucchini and olive oil. Snack were nuts and laughing cow cheese.

Yoga Class

This is where I take yoga and let me tell you that tonight was a friggin' nightmare and hotter than hell.

I haven't gone in about 5 days and it was hard as hell. That also was exacerbated by the fact that the room was way, WAY too hot. It became hotter and hotter until my hands and face were getting numb and I had to lay down for the last 10 minutes of class, panting and sweating like a washed-up fish.

The class was unbearable and I heard the instructor say she turned the heat down 10 degrees, which leads me to wonder what the temperature was BEFORE she turned it down? It's supposed to be a constant 102 degrees so if she turned it down 10 degrees then it was at least 112 degrees without the humidity factor.
