Tourist
That's what I've been doing all weekend since my mom arrived Friday, playing tourist.
Saturday we walked across the Golden Gate Bridge and then went to Sausalito for the afternoon. Then we drove home and got ready for dinner at Chez Panisse, which was fantastic as usual. Today we got up, ate breakfast and then went to Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf and Ghiradelli Square.
It's kinda cool to be doing all these touristy things with my mom because otherwise I'd never do them. I would have lived here and never visited Alcatraz for sure, and while I've driven across the Golden Gate numerous times I can assure you I'd never have walked across it. And as for Fisherman's Wharf, well, if you're not a tourist there's really NO reason to go down there. Still we had a good time and I ended up with a hella red face from all the sun.
It's funny how you can live in a place and never do the "sites" that everyone else who visits wants to do. Like in Seattle. I lived there for 5 years and never visited the Space Needle. I mean, I saw it and drove past it but I never went up inside the thing. So now I can say I have visited all these tourist-type places in San Francisco and if you ever need any recommendations as me.
