Black and Hispanics are Stupid.
Shocking? Yes, but that's exactly what "minority advocates" are saying by claiming that the UC Board of Regents attempt to raise minimum GPA requirements is "sordid" and "closing the door to minority students."
Since when did demanding high standards become an issue of discrimination? If the Board of Regents passed a resolution stating they didn't want any "spics and niggers" in the state university system then I think THAT could be considered racist. But saying they wanted to raise standards is exactly that, raising standards.
To claim that minority students are incapable of meeting higher GPA standards is the only real racism in this argument. These "minority advocate" groups are doing an enormous dis-service to the very people they claim they're trying to help.
I find it repulsive in today's world that it's OK to claim that minority students are somehow unable to meet the same academic standards as white and Asian students. But then again, if these groups admitted that this weren't the case, their very reason for existence would be gone. Groups that claim to be "minority advocates" exist only to perpetuate the myth that minorities always are going to be behind the curve and are always going to be the victims of white and institutional discrimination. Sad, lame and pathetic.
