Jet-lag Blues
In case anyone reading this blog has wondered: the reason I'm blogging so late is because I'm jet-lagged. Right now it's +13 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time for me, which means it's 1:36 PM on Tuesday, China Standard Time, at least as far as my mind and body are concerned.
I'm used to jet-lag from Europe, which is an eight-hour time difference. But this is the first time I've had to deal with massive Asian-style jet-lag. Usually it works itself out in 2-hour time increments. That means that when I arrived home Saturday I slept until Sunday at 2:00 PM. Monday I went to bed at 4:00 AM and slept until 12:00 PM and today hopefully I'll wake up at 10:00 AM, which won't be so good because I've got to work, but I'm thinking of calling in. Not sure yet but we'll see.
The one thing that's keeping me normal, besides my sexy boyfriend and an endless prescription of Ambien, is the addition of On Demand to our cable lineup. So far I've sat through the night and watched endless episodes of Sex and the City, all without charge.
I feel like this whole On Demand cable shizzle, the ability to order your favorite movies, TV shows and cable specials right when you want them, has changed my entire life, and I'm never looking back. Well, it's not that extreme but it's damn fine to be able to call up a movie or a cable series like Sex in the City or Six Feet Under and not have to pay for it, at least if you already have a subscription to those premium channels. I can't imagine a better companion to my jet-lag blues than On Demand TV.
