I work for this wonderful company, The Cleveland Company. When I told them I was going to be moving to the Carolinas, they immediately said "well, you're not going to QUIT are ya?"
And so I telecommute for them, about 20 hours or so a week.
When I came back for my visit in June they planned a Cleveco outing so we could all spend some time together. We knew right off the bat we'd go to John's house, because he has lots of toys. He lives right on a big lake and has boats and trampolines and lawn games and playstations and computers and pool tables...it goes on and on.
But Michelle wanted to go golfing first.
Ick.
I don't really see the attraction to slogging around a hot, muggy golf course, whacking away at a little ball. The walking I don't mind. I love to walk...but golfers don't really walk per se. They tend to amble. Slow ambling is just TIRING. And frankly, I suck at golf. Yeah, it's probably my attitude.
Fortunately, at least one other employee agreed with me. And since there are 4 Clevelands and 4 employees, any two people can turn the tide of public opinion if they really want to.
So we rented a pontoon boat, picked up some barbeque...that real, tomatoey, sweet and tangy barbeque...and we went out on the lake looking at the rich people's houses.
So it was cold. It was in the mid-60s and occasionally it would rain. But we laughed and visited and had a good time. The evening culminated with John totally soaking Sam and Anne. We thought about getting all his underwear out and hanging around the chandeliers in the house, but we didn't.
