We had a quiet weekend here.  Mensa boy worked pretty late on Friday and then most of the day Saturday, so we just hung out at home and tried to stay cool.

Saturday night for supper we went to Steak N Shake.  It was pretty good!  It's not steak, per se. It's steakburgers. And they are quite good. Their shakes are pretty decent too. But not excellent. Nobody  but The Malt Shop make excellent shakes and malts. But Steak N Shake was fair. I'd eat there again.

It was kind of odd because you feel like you are walking into a fast food restaurant where you line up at the counter and order. But right off the bat you notice there is no menu pasted up high above your head.  They seat you and a waiter takes your order.

This weekend I read The Search for Delicious by Natalie Babbitt. This is actually a fairly old book, written in 1969. It didn't take the whole weekend to read. More like about 2 1/2 hours.  It's a story-poem taking place centuries ago.  The Prime Minister of a small kingdom is writing the kingdom's first dictionary and he needs to find out which food stands for "Delicious" in the dictionary. His 12 year old son is sent out to poll the kingdom to find out what the people think Delicious is. But of course there is a dark side to the story, as a rival to the throne tries to incite a civil war so he can take over the kingdom. Cute story. It would be a good book to read to kids.
