We're definitely undergoing a regime change here in South Carolina. First Strom Thurmond retires and dies. Now Fritz Hollings is retiring.

Those two were the most senior pair in the US Senate, with a combined 84 years of seniority. The guy who succeeded Thurmond, Lindsey Graham, is 94th out of 100 and the person who succeeds Hollings will be in the 90-somethings.

I like watching political stories. I'll be watching this next election to see what happens.  SC has had one Democratic Senator and one Republican Senator.  I wonder if that will continue?

I read an interesting story yesterday in the newspaper Monday about a guy that seems to be changing his address just so he can run for city council.  The guy actually moved in with his mother.  Says lots of people move back home after they retire. He retired from the city's Neighborhood Development Department.  He moved from his 3,096 square-foot house, where his wife and daughter lives, in with his mother a few blocks away (in another district). Her house is 1, 176 square feet.

He is a Democrat. His own house is in a heavily Republican district. His mother's is in a heavily Democratic district.

He says he and his wife are not separated. He goes over there all the time and mows the lawn, eats meals there, has both homes listed on his driver's license.

I sure hope he has some good hobbies because he's definitely not going anywhere as a politician!
