Here are some books I've read recently:

10 Sure Signs a Movie Character is Doomed & Other Surprising Movie Lists by Richard Roeper. This is a pretty funny book. He has some great lists like "pop songs in permanent rotation on the movie soundtrack jukebox" and "6 differences between the movie version of the world of TV and REAL TV".  The only issue I have with this book as that Roeper lists "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" as one of his top 40 worst movies.

A Ship Made of Paper by Scott Spencer. This is a pretty depressing book. This guy has a live-in girlfriend and he falls in love with a woman he runs into each day at Day Care. The woman is another race and is married.

The Colour by Rose Tremain. Another depressing book. A husband, wife and his mother all immigrate to New Zealand right at the beginning of the New Zealand gold rush. He catches gold fever and goes off to pan for it.  His wife is homesick and his mother is in mourning for her husband, who died in embarrassing circumstances.

I need to get some better books, I think.
