I haven't mentioned the Twins in a while. They were in a slump for quite a while there and then came back pretty solid after the All-Star break. As of last night, when they BEAT THE ROYALS, they are half a game back from Chicago, putting them in second place in the division.
I watched a great movie yesterday afternoon. It's called Memento and is one of the most fascinating movies I've seen in a while. It's a bit bloody and there are a lot of f-words in it, but man!
The deal is, this guy has no short-term memory.
at. all.
He can remember everything right up to his wife's brutal rape and murder in their home, but after that...every few minutes is new all over again. He uses polaroids, notes and tatoos on his body to remind himself of important things...like which car is his, what hotel he's staying in, who his friends are.
He is trying to find and kill the person who killed his wife and robbed him of his memory (he was damaged in the assault, that's why the memory loss).
The movie has a great way of handling this, by doing scenes over and over from different angles and starting points. You work your way backwards in time in short spurts. The ending is pretty surprising, too.
There is one scene that's kind of funny. In a sick way. He's running and suddently he says to himself "now why am I running?" "why am I chasing this guy?" "oh, he's chasing me!"
I'd definitely recommend this movie. But if you have kids, watch it in your bedroom. They really don't need the swearing.
