I have received a few comments about my musings concerning the Alabama Ten Commandments monument.  Thank you!  All the comments have been along the same vein: why are people spending so much time on this and gee, what did the judge expect, when he put this thing up in the middle of the night?

The more news coverage I see on this, the more it bothers me.  Remember when Jesus said we should render unto Caesar what is Caesar's (Matthew 22:21)?  I believe he was talking about taxes, but really it all boils down to...have respect for your government. They are your earthly authority. Respect the laws of your country.  In Romans 13:1-2 Paul says "Obey the government, for God is the one who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."

That's enough on that. It makes me tired.

My parents went to the Minnesota State Fair last week. Without me.  Usually it's Mom and I that go. But of course, I'm not there, so she dragged Dad. He likes it, it's just that he doesn't linger over "wonder choppers" or "super-de-dooper blenders" like Mom and I do.

Mom and I always go early enough to have breakfast. Something with lots of sugar and strong coffee. Then we have a breakfast dessert, like mini donuts or cookies.  From there it's all downhill food-wise, with us staggering, drunk with sugar-shock, from one food demonstration to another.

It's not ALL sugar. There is the pastie we share for lunch and the tabouli sandwich with extra aoli on it.  And of course the french fries and the buttered, roasted corn on the cob. But of course, after all that salt you have to chase it all with a chocolate malt from the dairy building. While watching the poor dairy princess getting her likeness carved into a big chunk of butter.

Last time we went we watched a "junkyard wars" kind of thing, with these little home-made machines chopping each other to pieces.  And of course the dog building, where we watched all these perfectly-behaved dogs demonstrate their agility and obedience skills.  We snickered about how our Boston Terrier and Boxer were MUCH cuter than any of those dogs we saw in the dog building.  Sure, Mick and Soya may not know any cool tricks, but they are vastly superior to ANY dog in terms of companionship.

Miss ya Mom!
