Saturday I read The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Friday Cassie gave it to me when we went out for lunch. But my neighbor had mentioned to me that she read it all in one sitting, so I kept putting off starting it.
This book practically begs to be a movie. I really enjoyed it. Not much could go wrong with a story that has secret societies, murder, running-on-the-lamb, Europe, smart people.
It's a "Holy Grail" story. I felt a bit tense the entire time I read it. Each page seemed like a cliffhanger.
We watched K-19: Widowmaker last night. It's based on the true story of a nuclear accident that occurred near the beginning of the cold war arms race. Harrison Ford is the ruthless sub commander that gets the sailors through it.
We also did some shopping. Bought a big comfy chair and ottoman from Sofa Express and we shopped for guitars. We are still in discussions about the guitar. Mensa Boy wants to get an acoustic that has a pre-amp built into it and then buy a small amp. I don't like the sound. But then, I'm a "total wood" person, so nothing but another all-wood acoustic guitar is going to sound right to me. I'm also fiddling with the notion of getting a bass. Either an electric bass or an acoustic guitar-style bass. The guy at the guitar store showed us a $100 electric bass that might be what I need. Better yet, I'd like to find one almost free somewhere. I don't want to invest much until I figure out how to play it. How hard can it be? I already play pick-n-strum style on my guitar...I understand bass notes...
The house is coming along and once I get some color on the walls downstairs, I'll post some photos. I might start splashing around some yellow later in the week.
