Big Ole' storm brewing right now. The radar screen is all yellow and red. It's dark enough to have turn on lights and the wind is really bending over some of our smaller trees. I hear some thunder...nope! That's neighbor Dominic battening down the hatches. No raindrops yet. I hope I hope I hope I hope...
I saw two movies this past weekend. Both quite good.
Shrek 2 is without a doubt (there's some thunder) the best movie I've seen so far in 2004. Maybe in the past 2 years. I didn't think Mensa Boy was going to see it. He read some christian reviewer who said it was spoiled by too much sexual inuendo. Bullfeathers! It was very mild. Some ogre-kissing. It was just fine! I'd actually see it again...not many movies like that in my world. I thought the best part was the spoof on "Mission Impossible".
Sunday I was napping/waking up/napping/waking up when Cassie called. "I thought you'd be napping." she said. "I was, but when I saw it was you I thought you might have a better idea." So we decided to go to a movie. Didn't know which one. We'd decide when we got there.
So we saw Man on Fire. Very, very good movie. But very loud, very gory and lots of close-ups and schwooshing cameras. Cass likes to sit in the middle near the front....so you have to tilt your head up..not a lot, but a little. I think we should have moved to the back but I was too lazy to suggest it. I mean, you could see the beard bristles on Denzel's cheeks...after he shaved! The movie was about a kidnapping ring in Mexico City who ransomed kids for the kidnapping insurance money their parents could collect. Denzel is a kid's bodyguard and she gets snatched. Denzel has issues with "the bottle". He gets injured in the kidnapping. One hint...the "man on fire" is not necessarily Denzel!
I need to bake some bars today for a picnic this afternoon and I'm reading Bound for the Promised Land: Harriet Tubman, Portrait of an American Hero. I'd like to finish that today, as I have a stack of books as high as...well, you know.
