Well, the cousins left yesterday and we were all in a bit of a funk for the rest of the day. My intention was to do some cleaning after they left, but I ended up holing up in my room watching episode after episode of Gilmore Girls on DVD. Of course, only Season 1 is out right now and they just finished Season 4, I think. So it's going to be tough watching it on TV without all those years in between.
So, today is going to be quite busy, catching up with housework.
Nate leaves for Salkehatchie Summer Service today. This is an organization, comprised mainly of South Carolina United Methodist Youth, that sends kids and adults to homes that need repair. The homeowners are unable to fix problems themselves. This is the first year Nate has qualified, you must be 14, so we are anxious to see how it goes for him. Our church sends a fairly large contingent to these things...around 15 people go each year, which works out to about 15% of our congregation.
Things are very very dry here. I know I've mentioned it several times, but now I'm starting to think we may get a watering ban soon. I have not watered the grass this week, as we got 3/4 of an inch of rain last Tuesday. But I'll have to put down some moisture this weekend, for sure. I'm just waiting now to see if Mensa Boy plans to mow the lawn this morning. It really doesn't need it, except in the shaded spots under the pergola and around the trees. I'll sure be glad when our trees are tall enough to shade most of the yard. I did some very severe trimming of the herbs in my pots last night. They had not been watered the two days we were gone and I have a couple plants that are breathing their last. I put some water on them and then some Miracle Gro. I'll have to try to go out there and dump a glass of water on them every few hours.
We are supposed to get a break in the temperature overnight tonight. We'll hit 90 or so today then tomorrow it's supposed to go to the low 80s. But if the sun is out, it will still seem quite beastly out.
