"Do you still have your Principal stock?" my financial planner asked yesterday on the phone.
"What Principal stock?" I responded.
"The stock you got in 2001 when Principal Financial went public. Maybe you just filed away that mailing. But haven't you gotten some little dividend checks each year in December?"
Aha. So that's where those came from. So he gave me the phone number for the company handling us Principal Financial stockholders and whaddaya know, Mensa Boy and I are almost $10,000 richer than we thought we were.
Cool.
Today Mensa Boy, Taylor and I will go to lunch with a friend from Minneapolis. Diane E. is here in dowtown Charlotte at a convention. It will be fun to see her and visit with her for a bit. Then Taylor and I have to get a wiggle on the Father's Day gift. On the off chance that MB is not going to read my blog today, (IF YOU ARE...STOP RIGHT HERE, MR. MAN!) I'll tell you what the boys elected to get. Maybe some of you have ideas for procurement.
They want to get him a phone card that he can use to call his brother in Saskatchewan. I gave them a couple of choices and this was the one they chose. The problem is, it could be arduous finding one that will work for Canada without jacking the price up really high. He used to call Jim from his cell phone. But when we switched him from Verizon to the Cingular Family Talk plan, we found out the hard way that they charge an extremely high charge for calling there. Jim has told us that the best thing to do is stand in the store, call the 800 numbers on the backs of the cards, and ask what the rate is to call Canada.
Ugh.
