"The Stepford Wives" is out in theatres now, and I had never seen the original. So I ordered it up from Netflix. I watched it this weekend and enjoyed it very much.  I know the one that's out now is more comedic and campy. I think that might have been a good approach.  Either that or they could have gone more sinister and added more of a back story about the men's association and what they did with the real wives.

When the main character goes to the men's association house in search of her children, I thought she might find the house filled with all the original wives.  Remember, I hadn't seen the movie or read the book so I really had a no idea what to expect. I was a little disappointed in that part of the movie.

Cassie and I went to see The Terminal. It was a good movie, but seemed very long.  I was distracted by Stanley Tucci, the Homeland Security guy who by law has to keep Hanks in the airport. The shape of his head is kind of like a turtle and his upper lip kind of reminds me of muppets, so I kept battling with that image turtle muppet image everytime he was in a scene.

I imagine we'll try to go to another movie this Saturday. I'd like to see "The Day After Tomorrow", just because it's summer and I like to see big, giant disaster movies in the summer.

I worked the poll yesterday with neighbor Mary R. We had 38 voters all day.  DeMint eked out over Beasley in our precinct and ended up carrying the state of South Carolina by a fairly slim margin. We also got rid of one more incumbent on the  County Council.  The Council was rife with argumentative old men. Hopefully things will start moving along a little better now. Most them have been removed now. It was a little tedious, waiting 12 hours for 38 voters, but Mary is good company. We talk when we want, and don't when we don't want.  I played a lot of solitaire on my laptop and got the Class of 1982 newsletter done for my college.

So now it's back to work. First a grocery store run for 2 pounds of bacon and some jalapeno peppers. I need to make two batches of baked beans today for Vacation Bible School.
