This weekend I watched the original "The Manchurian Candidate" and "To Catch a Thief". I also watched the first three episodes of PBS's "Frontier House" on DVD.

I watched "The Manchurian Candidate" because it has been remade now with Denzel Washington as the main character. I'd never seen the original before, or read the book. So I wanted to be up-to-speed.  I really enjoyed the movie a lot.  And that reminds me...I never told Nate and Mensa Boy that the Candidate also dealt his Solitaire cards 3 at a time. For some reason neither of them understands that that's the real way to play the game.

I'm not sure why I ordered "To Catch a Thief", but it came, so I watched it. I was reminded how slowly those movies by Hitchcock went.  I feel a bit shallow thinking they were boringly slow, but I can't really help the fact that I live in a time where stories on TV and at the movies move along more quickly.  At any rate, I liked the movie, even though I'd figured out who the real thief was about 15 minutes into the movie.

And "Frontier House"...if you watched "Colonial House" this year on PBS, I highly recommend renting Frontier House on DVD. I'm finding this series, which premiered on PBS in 2002, to be just as enjoyable at CH.  Of course, some of the characters drive you crazy, just like any reality-type show, but the overall show is very good.
