The guys are all going to the beach today for a couple of days.  I'll be in class, working on my Commercial Driver's License so I can drive a school bus.

The house they are going to is owned by a friend of ours, who is a Cub Scout parent. She has a two-story house in North Myrtle Beach that actually is like two houses stacked on top of each other.  3 bedrooms with 5 double beds, tv with basic cable, fully-equipped kitchen and air conditioning.  Her price for renting it out is very modest.  The guys are happing about going to the beach. And they haven't said it, but I imagine they are looking forward to a few days of fast food. Mom doesn't let them eat much of it. Dad doesn't have the same issues.

My Dad's retirement is not going quite like he expected.  Several weeks ago, he fell over the new barbeque pit in their back yard and broke his arm.  It was the right one, fortunately.  Most lefties feel the right arm is just another useless appendage.  So he's been nursing that along and may have quite a way to go, as the fingers are a bit numb. He may have some nerve damage there.

But he does have a new hobby. I can't really say I'd have imagined this would be it, but he's trapping squirrels.  Yes, it seems the neighbor mentioned to him that he'd seen quite a few squirrels going in and out of the underside of my Dad's handyman van.  Finally, after a bit of time, Dad noticed the air conditioning stopped working.  The squirrels had chewed through some of the wiring.

So Dad set up a live trap next to the tree that the van is parked near. I'm not sure why he doesn't just move the van somewhere else, but that's his deal, not mine.  So far he's caught 7 squirrels in the last couple of days. He drives them out to a corn field and lets them go. Yesterday he caught 2 in one day. He didn't set the trap again after that, as he didn't feel like driving them.

A friend of my Mom's said that another guy used to do that...trap squirrels...and someone told HIM that they will just keep coming back to the same place. So this guy spray-painted the tail of one before letting it go. Sure enough, he caught that same squirrel again some time later.

Well, it keeps the geezer out of trouble. He could be down at the VFW every day drinking rum & coke and playing bingo or whatever they do down there. (that'll get a rise out of him! check back for his comment!)

Remember: Don't buy Benchcraft Furniture!
