It was 3 coaches and me in the Bus Driver training class yesterday. They are all from another High School here in our county.  And they wouldn't have had to be at the training if they hadn't let their licenses lapse! If they'd just taken a new behind-the-wheel test every 2 years and a physical every 2 1/2 years, they would have been set.

The classroom training is supposed to be 20 hours. But we got through half in about 8 1/2 hours yesterday, so we'll probably finish up today.  It's pretty interesting stuff, but the videos are pretty hokey...lots of scare tactic-type stuff...showing how accidents happen, kids get killed and/or maimed.  And they are very old...most made in 1989 or thereabouts.

I hope to take the 4-part written test by Friday. If I can get the 10 hours behind-the-wheel done early next week, maybe I'll be done or almost done by the time Mom arrives.

I still don't really know how much driving I'm going to do. I told the transportation/safety guy to put me where he thinks I'll fit the best.  I am willing to try fulltime, but I told him if  it's too much, I may ask him to let me go parttime once he finds someone else. Then he said he might have a parttime thing for me right off the bat...one run in the morning and one run in the afternoon. But now yesterday one of his longtime drivers quit, so he needs someone fulltime. Fulltime must be only about 20 hours anyway, so I should still have time to get my stuff done for Cleveco.

My intent is just to keep busy until our new library opens. Then I want to work there until I drop over cold, with a good book clutched in the fingers. That could be a couple years.

The guys are all at the beach.  They are having a good time and the house is nice, Mensa Boy said.  It was weird being in this big house by myself without Soya snoring at the foot of the bed.  And you know, the house smells different without her here. She didn't really smell doggy...unless her allergies were acting up...but when I walked in the door yesterday, the house just smelled different.  Of course, we've been doing a lot of cleaning since she died.  The carpet in the office and all the floors and rugs.  Later this week we'll do the carpets in the living room, music room and dining room.

Gotta shove off. It's a 45 minute drive to the boondocks where this other High School is. Remember: Just Say No to Benchcraft Furniture!
