I've watched two oldie but goodie movies: It Happened One Night and The Thin Man.
"It Happened" was made in 1934 and starred Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable. Colbert plays a socialite who runs away from her controlling father to marry a fortune-hunter pilot. Gable is a drunken freelance newspaper writer who runs into her on the bus and ends up taking care of her. I really enjoyed this movie and would recommend it to anyone.
"Thin Man" was also made in 1934 and starred William Powell and Myrna Loy. They are a husband-wife team of investigators (although I didn't really see her do much) and they are looking into the disappearance of a quirky inventor. Dead bodies keep showing up and the inventor is blamed by the community. The repartee between Powell and Loy is snappy and enjoyable. But I thought there were too many twists in the story and I had a hard time keeping track of the characters.
